Nerf Battles - Session 1
Thanks to Jamie Heston, the creatrix of East Bay Nerf Battles, our GameRunners Edward and Oliver have been instructed in the fine art of Nerf battle gamerunning!  We wish Jamie were joining us at GameSchoolCon, but we're going to soldier on without her and blast each other in her honor :)

We will play multiple Nerf battles, with breaks in between for collecting darts, resting and reloading.  Game modes include: freeze tag, civil war, defend the core, seize the balls, capture the point, king of the hill and more. Players can play every game in the session, or sit out if they need a break.  All ages, kids and adults welcome, from 6 to 99!

BRING your own Nerf blaster(s), shields, melee weapons (foam swords, rolled up socks), or use one of ours.  We will provide everything else including elite/koosh style darts.  If your blaster uses mega darts, discs or balls, you must bring your own darts/discs/balls.  Put your initials or mark on them so you don't lose them.  All players are expected to help sweep (pick up) darts after each game mode.

Rules will be explained at the session. (can also be viewed ahead of time at www.eastbayareanerf.com)  Children participating must be able to follow directions, be good sports and be team players (no bad language allowed).  All players must have glasses, sunglasses or some sort of eye protection for each round.

Come and join in the FUN!

This session is sure to be popular and we want everyone to have a chance to play, so please arrive 10 minutes early.

Ages: Recommended for ages 16 and up.
Character creation: Full, at beginning of session
Seats: 5 players max, spectators welcome, see description
Difficulty Level: Moderate - easy to learn for experienced players

Historical Miniature Gaming Society Demos
Friday:  American Civil War

The Historical Miniature Gaming Society - Pacific Southwest will be joining us for the first time at GameSchoolCon. This organization is a 501(c)3 charity with a focus on learning and teaching history. Their table top battles use models to represent the opposing forces as was done by real Generals before the age of the computer. The study of History helps them to grasp the size and strength of the opposing forces. Mathematics is used extensively to understand the various random factors that go into deciding which strategies have the best chance of winning. Most members assemble and paint their own models which teaches them coordination, process, organization, and patience. These games are engaging and instructive. Those of you who saw the recent film "Midway" witnessed a scene where the Admirals did not learn the lesson of the tabletop results.

Historical Miniature Gaming Society Demos
Saturday: Naval War Games

Artist Trading Cards!
Artist Trading Cards Funshop - Open to All Ages!
What are Artist Trading Cards? Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are simply pieces of art that are made out of cards measuring 2.5”by 3.5”. You can buy special paper already cut to this size, or better yet, simply use sturdy paper you already have at home. Old file folders, card stock, greeting cards – any paper that is not flimsy – can be cut to the right dimensions and used as an ATC. Think about baseball trading cards and look for paper about that weight. Or, be creative and use materials other than paper. Just keep to the 2.5” x 3.5” size. Once you have your 2.5 x 3.5” card, what you do with it is up to you. Draw on it, paint, collage, sew, embellish, write words. In an ATCs funshop, all of the participants share materials, themes, techniques and ideas with others in the funshop to make unique ATCs. And we always schedule time for trading/swapping finished cards too.

RPG: Dread - "Bloody Mary"
Many know the urban legend of the ghost in the mirror, but where it originated none can say... until now. As a team of paranormal investigators, you'll seek the most recent incarnation of the Bloody Mary in the history of an eccentric psychologist whose studies on fear were unorthodox and deadly. Reflect carefully on your own fears and be prepared, for many echoes of the doctor's work linger, and those echoes are all of one name...

Dread has no dice or complicated rules, and character creation is done via a simple questionnaire. All you need is a good imagination, a knack for roleplay and a bit of courage in this macabre storytelling game where every move you make puts you one step closer to potential doom.

Capacity: up to 7 players
Ages: 13+ (horror themed)
Experience Level: Easy - suitable for new players
Sign up: GM will hang a sign up sheet on the RPG room door on Sunday morning. Spectators welcome!

Historical Miniature Gaming Society Demos
Sunday: Modern Desert War
